The ideal location
The Jongert yard is located in the district of Wieringermeer, a polder reclaimed from the Zuiderzee in 1930. It is only a 50-minute drive north of Amsterdam Schiphol Airport and just 25 minutes from Den Helder Airport.
Half a century
Having spent over half a century in nearby Medemblik, our bespoke new facilities were required in order for the yard to expand.
Local residents became used to seeing a 45 m super yacht bowsprit sticking out into the street from our former construction hall, which was just 40 metres in length. Our new facilities were built 10 km up the road, freeing the yard from the restrictions of the local locks.
Close to open water
Opened in 2003 after years of careful development and fine-tuning, the location was chosen because of its position close to open water.
A 3.5 km shipping lane links the yard to the existing waterway in the Ijsselmeer lake, enabling yachts to sail directly into the North Sea.
Sea trials
It only takes around 15 minutes to reach the lock at Den Oever and head out to open sea. This has enormous advantages when it comes to sea trials and commissioning.
